Taco Bueno unveiled a new design at a remodeled unit in Mesquite, Texas, on Tuesday.
The 176-unit Dallas-based fast-casual concept offers what the company calls a “Modern Pueblo” design, featuring a signature wire mesh and rock stone tower, or gabion. This is the primary design the company will use in modernizing older units.
Royce Ring, principal with the Dallas-based Plan B Group Inc. that did the redesign work, said, “Our design is a new take on this classic idea. This detail combines the galvanized steel ‘basket’ over the stacked stone.

“The gabion scheme is meant to contrast with the neutral tones of the surrounding stucco walls,” he said.
The design group also worked on some other elements of the trade dress, Royce said, including simplifying the color palette, incorporating new signage and adding native landscape plants.
All the changes, he said, “work in concert to create a new, organic, fresh and highly recognizable exterior image for Taco Bueno.”
Alexander Urrunaga, another principal with the Plan B Group, described the new design as “Ree-Bueno.”
Taco Bueno said it plans additional remodels in the new look to stores in both the Dallas-Fort Worth and Tulsa, Okla., markets.
The company said the remodeled store was not closed during the renovations.
Taco Bueno is privately held by Palladium Equity Partners. It has stores in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
