Subway said that it has suspended its relationship with spokesman Jared Fogle after state and federal agents raided the longtime spokesman’s suburban Indianapolis home early Tuesday.
In a statement late Tuesday afternoon, a Subway representative said that the two mutually agreed to suspend a relationship that began in 2000 after Fogle famously lost more than half his body weight eating Subway sandwiches.
“Subway and Jared Fogle have mutually agreed to suspend their relationship due to the current investigation. Jared continues to cooperate with authorities, and he expects no actions to be forthcoming. Both Jared and Subway agree that this was the appropriate action to take.”
The statement came just hours after Subway released an earlier statement, saying that it was “shocked about the news” of the raid. The chain suggested that the raid was related to a prior investigation of Russell Taylor, the former executive director of the Jared Foundation, who was arrested in April on child pornography charges.
