Puttshack promotes Logan Powell from chief financial officer to CEO

Powell succeeds Joe Vrankin, who brought the eatertainment concept from the U.K. to the U.S.

Puttshack announced Thursday the promotion of Logan Powell from chief financial officer to CEO, effective immediately. Powell had served as global president and chief financial officer of the Chicago-based mini golf eatertainment brand since 2019and is succeeding Joe Vrankin, who was the company’s CEO in the U.K. and brought the concept overseas to the U.S. in 2021.

“I deeply believe in the Puttshack brand and am honored to have the opportunity to grow our concept and further establish Puttshack as a true leader and innovator,” Powell said in a statement. “As competitive socializing continues to appeal to multiple generations, I look forward to working with our leadership team to further our focus on driving innovation, operational excellence, best-in-class hospitality, and sustainable growth across the U.S.”

Powell has a background in finance and investor relations, including as a partner at Copper Beech CapitalLLC, and has served on the board of multiple companies, including Puttshack. Since joining the company in 2019, Powell has helped spearhead the growth of the brand, which has now grown to 14 U.S. locations and four London locations.

He joins the growing executive team at Puttshack, including Susan Walmesley, who assumed the responsibilities of chief operating officer in January, alongside her ongoing role as chief marketing officer.

“We are embarking on an exciting new chapter for our business, as we look to bring our innovative, tech-driven experience to Puttshack guests across the country while delivering our best-in-class experience,” Walmesley, said in a statement.

Moving forward, Puttshack aims to continue executing its long-term growth strategy, which unifies food and beverage experiences with high-tech mini golf games.

Technology is an integral part of Puttshack’s investments, like the company’s latest innovation called The Challenge Hole: a “dedicated mini golf suite” where customers can use cloud-based tech to assist in playing a semi-virtual game of mini golf and aim their putters at a screen rather than on a course.
