The Dallas-based brand continues to expand in areas like Chicago, one of its fastest-growing markets

Smoothie King Franchises Inc. opened 84 new stores in 2024 and expects to add more than 100 locations in 2025, the company said Wednesday.

The privately held Dallas-based smoothie brand, in a fourth-quarter update, said it surpassed its 81 openings in 2023. The company said top-performing markets for franchise agreements included Indianapolis (15 agreements), Dallas-Fort Worth (10 agreements), and Atlanta (seven agreements).

About 68% of its franchise agreements in 2024 were signed by existing operators, the company said.

“Our growth in 2024 reflects the incredible commitment of our franchisees and the strength of our brand,” Chris Bremer, Smoothie King’s chief development officer, said in a statement. “We’re grateful to our franchise partners, team members, and loyal guests for making these milestones possible.”

The fourth quarter saw 25 new stores open nationwide, including the brand’s 1,200th domestic location, and continued expansion across Chicago, one of the brand’s fastest-growing markets.

Smoothie King said it is eyeing an expansion in Phoenix, Ariz., in 2025 as part of its strategic plan to grow its footprint across the Southwest.

In 2024, the company began offering a GLP-1 Support Menu, which launched in October, and a new personal trainer discount program called Active Alliance. The brand also has a new year-long partnership with Crunch Fitness, providing offers for both Crunch members and Smoothie King Healthy Rewards members, as well as other incentives and promotions across social, digital, and in-gym platforms.

Smoothie King is also testing a new food menu at select locations in Texas. The new Power Eats menu, which was introduced Jan. 21, is designed to pair with and complement smoothies, and features high-protein options.

Test menu items include Hearty 8 Grain Loaded Avocado Toast, Hearty 8 Grain Loaded Chocolate Hazelnut Toast, and a fruit and cheese protein box. Chicken skewers with dipping sauces will be available at all test locations starting Jan. 27, the company said.

Smoothie King, founded in 1973, has more than 1,200 stores nationwide.
