Burger King has introduced its first stuffed hamburger, the BK Stuffed Steakhouse Burger, which is filled with bits of jalapeño pepper and cheddar cheese.
The new burger, priced at a recommended $3.99, is topped with a creamy poblano sauce, tomatoes and lettuce and served on a premium bun. It's available at participating restaurants nationwide through mid-February.
In a statement, Burger King Corp.’s vice president for global product marketing and innovation, Jonathan Muhtar, said the BK Stuffed Steakhouse Burger comes in response to customers’ interest in premium burgers and “the bold combination of spicy and cheesy.”
The new burger marks Burger King's latest premium product since rolling out its new batch broilers last year. The chain debuted a premium line of Steakhouse XT burgers in February 2010 and featured a limited time offering of Fire-Grilled Ribs later that year.
Burger King said it would showcase the new stuffed burger in national advertising starting Jan. 17.
The Miami-based burger giant is also promoting the burger on Facebook and inviting fans in three select markets to “stuff” local Burger King units: By showing up at the specified time, date and location, customers will get free stuffed steakhouse burgers while supplies last.
