DALLAS Romano’s Macaroni Grill has introduced a new lunch menu that the chain said is aimed at budget-minded, health-conscious people on the go.
The menu includes 13 new recipes, such as Amalfi chicken soup and a prosciutto sandwich on focaccia bread, along with items from the regular menu, the chain said Tuesday. Guests can also choose two items from a list of salads, soups and half sandwiches for $6.99.
Macaroni Grill said the new lunch menu was designed to be served faster than the chain’s previous midday offerings.
“Our guests have told us that our previous lunch offering was time consuming, heavy and expensive,” said Brad Blum, chief executive of Macaroni Grill. “Based on invaluable feedback from a variety of guests, our new Mediterranean Lunch Menu represents significant improvements in all three areas.”
The new lunch offerings are an extension of Macaroni Grill’s menu overhaul, which the chain started last fall and expects to finish this summer. The new menu focuses on more healthful dishes with Italian-Mediterranean flavors.
Macaroni Grill also said more than half of its new lunch items contain 450 calories or fewer.
The 200-unit chain is owned by private-equity firm Golden Gate Capital.
