Logan’s Roadhouse has named industry veteran Sam Borgese president and chief executive, the company said this week.
Borgese, who served previously as CEO of Max Brenner International, will replace Mike Andres, who was named president of McDonald’s USA in August. Gerard Lewis, former chief concept officer for Wendy’s, served as CEO of Logan’s Roadhouse in the interim.
“We are excited for Sam to join the Logan’s team,” Phil Berney, president of Kelso & Company, a majority shareholder in Logan’s Roadhouse, said in a statement. “He brings more than 25 years of experience and a proven track record of leading successful brand positioning and driving improved operational results.”
Borgese joined Max Brenner more than two years ago and helped the dessert-focused full-service chain develop a fast-casual model.
Prior to Max Brenner, Borgese was executive chair of El Pollo Loco and chief executive of CB Holding Corp., parent to the Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse, Bugaboo Creek Steak House and The Office Beer Bar & Grill. At the time, Trimaran Capital Partners LLC owned the now-public El Pollo Loco, and also held a stake in CB Holding.
Before joining CB Holding in 2009, Borgese was president and chief executive of Catalina Restaurant Group, parent to the Coco’s Restaurant & Bakery and Carrows brands.
Based in Nashville, Tenn., Logan’s Roadhouse operates 234 casual-dining steakhouse restaurants and franchises another 26 units in 23 states across the U.S. LRI Holdings Inc. is parent to Logan’s Roadhouse.
