Logan’s Roadhouse names first chief people officer

Michelle Zavolta to fill newly created position

Logan’s Roadhouse Inc. has named Michelle Zavolta its first chief people officer, the company said Thursday.

Zavolta, who has 13 years of human resources experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries, will report directly to Sam Borgese, who was named president and CEO of the Nashville, Tenn.-based casual-dining operator in October.

Zavolta was most recently a human resources consultant in Atlanta. Prior to that, she served as vice president of human resources and training for Atlanta-based Ted’s Montana Grill.

Earlier, she served as vice president of human resources for Mountainside, N.J.-based CB Holding Corp., which at one time owned the Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse and Bugaboo Creek Steak House brands. She has also worked with Rare Hospitality International Inc., which owned LongHorn Steakhouse and The Capital Grille before selling them to Darden Restaurants Inc.

“Michelle is a great addition to our senior leadership team,” Borgese said in a statement. “Her expertise in human resources and leadership makes her a valued asset to the team, and we look forward to her contributions to the success of guest experiences and the brand.”

In the most recent Nation’s Restaurant News Top 100 census, Logan’s Roadhouse ranked No. 56 in U.S. systemwide foodservice sales, with $718.8 million for the fiscal year ended July 2013, an increase from $701.1 million the previous year.

Logan’s Roadhouse owns and operates 235 restaurants and franchises 26 units in 23 states. Kelso & Co. is a majority shareholder in Logan’s Roadhouse.
