Chick-fil-A on Thursday announced Andrew Cathy ­— son of current CEO Dan Cathy and grandson of founder S. Truett Cathy — will take over the family business. Andrew Cathy will assume the CEO role on November 1. 

McDonald’s Corp. sells more than a billion Happy Meals a year and on Tuesday announced new global sustainability goals to reduce virgin fossil-fuel plastics in its Happy Meal toys 90% within the next five years.

Jenny McColloch, McDonald’s chief sustainability officer in a press conference Monday from the burger brand’s headquarters in Chicago, said McDonald’s ambition was “to drastically reduce plastics and offer sustainable Happy Meal toys globally by the end of 2025.

Also, Big Chicken, with the creative and financial backing of Shaquille O’Neal, is starting to cast a franchise-concept shadow as long as the basketball great’s 7-foot-1 frame.

The Las Vegas, Nev.-based brand, with three stand-alone locations, has a wide range of deals, from a just-debuted Walmart presence with Canada-based Ghost Kitchen Brands to an expanding deal with Carnival Cruise ships.
