The wild ride leading D.C. restaurant chain The Carolina Kitchen to 9 locations

Founder Lance London recalls the nearly 30-year journey his regional chain has taken to the cusp of massive success.

By owner Lance London’s account, there have been plenty of moments in The Carolina Kitchen Bar & Grill’s history that should have been the end of it. For example, when it burned down.

And yet, London’s passion for his concept has kept The Carolina Kitchen alive now for 27 years. Today, it has four locations in the Washington, D.C., metro area, and London is preparing to open five more in Maryland — each offering a fresh spin to The Carolina Kitchen branding and menu.

At the recent Prosper Forum in Amelia Island, Fla., London sat down with NRN’s editor-in-chief for this bonus episode of Take-Away with Sam Oches to share the wild journey he’s followed to this point — and how he plans to keep the dream of The Carolina Kitchen alive into the future.
