Trending this week: The latest menu moves at KFC

This week on NRN.com, the top story was the Oct. 20 episode of the Extra Serving podcast, in which editors Holly Petre, Sam Oches and Leigh Anne Zinsmeister discussed the surge in the late-night daypart and the now-spicier chicken sandwich wars. The episode also featured a discussion between editor Bret Thorn and Honeygrow founder and CEO Justin Rosenberg.

Meanwhile, KFC dominated the news. Editor Alicia Kelso recently had the opportunity to visit company headquarters and came back with six takeaways, including the brand’s sharpened focus on attracting younger and more diverse consumers through boneless, portable innovations. KFC is also testing new Original Recipe chicken tenders, with a seasoning previously only used on on-the-bone products.

Elsewhere in the industry, Subway officially relocated its headquarters, Taco Bell finally liberated the Taco Tuesday trademark, and P.F. Chang’s got a new CEO.
