NAFEM Show education sessions to focus on future trends

Produced by the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers of Chicago, the biennial event showcasing products for food preparation, cooking, storage and table service also features daily education sessions. New to the NAFEM Show in 2009 is the “What’s Hot! What’s Cool!” product gallery of items that organizers say provide tangible benefits in the areas of labor and cost savings, energy efficiency, food safety, environmental friendliness, and aesthetics. NAFEM Show 2009 educational sessions include “What’s Hot! Sustainability,” with “spotlight speaker” Gary Hirshberg, president of green-business success story and yogurt maker Stonyfield Farm of Manchester, N.H. Participating in an associated panel discussion are Maisie Greenawalt, vice president of contract feeder Bon Appetit Management Co. of Palo Alto, Calif.; Michael Gordon, chief operating officer of Pizza Fusion, in Ft. A panel further exploring innovative thinking concepts and issues will be made up of Jeff Cook, senior director equipment development for Burger King Corp. of Miami; Steven Hammel, dining services program manager for the U.S. Navy’s southwest region, based in San Diego; Mary Angela Miller, administrative director for Ohio State University Hospitals Administration, in Columbus, Ohio; and Dean A.
