Popeyes Louisiana Chicken is expanding its chicken-wing platform, introduced last year, with a honey-lemon-pepper flavor that debuts today on the smartphone app and website and will be in restaurants on April 1, the company said.
The Miami-based division of Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International said heat comes from black pepper. The original wings were available at a suggested starting price of $5.99 for a six-piece order. They came in five flavors with varying heat levels, including Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Ghost Pepper, and Sweet N’ Spicy.
“We’re on a mission to continue transforming the wing game and elevate the wing flavors consumers know and love in a way only Popeyes can,” said Amy Alarcon, Popeyes vice president of culinary innovation, said in a statement.
“By introducing Honey Lemon Pepper Wings, we’re doing more than expanding our menu; we’re inviting our guests to rethink what they know about great wings,” Alarcon said.
The six flavors are also available in 18- and 24-piece wing packs, the company said.
Popeyes, founded in 1972, has more than 4,000 restaurants in the U.S. and around the world.
