Wendy’s rolls out Saucy Nuggs

Wendy’s new Saucy Nuggs feature seven different flavors and are available in 4, 6, 10, or 20-piece sizes at the quick-service restaurant chain.

Wendy’s has jumped into the saucy nuggets’ conversation, today announcing that its Saucy Nuggs will be available nationwide starting today for digital customers who order through the app or website for delivery or pickup. They’ll be available starting June 10 at the drive-thru and for dine-in.

Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs feature seven flavors – honey bbq, garlic  parm, Buffalo, spicy honey bbq, spicy garlic parm, spicy Buffalo, and spicy ghost pepper – and are served with a side of ranch or blue cheese dipping sauces. They are available in 4, 6, 10, or 20-piece sizes.

"This new innovation is all about providing a next-level culinary experience rooted in flavor," John Li, Wendy’s global vice president of culinary innovation, said in a statement. "We crafted four unique sauces to complement the Wendy's nugget experience and to provide fans with a variety of chicken options that meet their lifestyles and palettes. Whether fans want a bite-size snack or a full meal, we've got them covered with our new Saucy Nuggs."

Lindsay Radkoski, CMO, added in a statement that Saucy Nuggs will create more opportunities for Wendy’s to meet the needs of new and existing customers. Indeed, more customers are clamoring for sauciness. As such, restaurant brands have started adding more sauce options while shining a brighter promotional spotlight on those sauces. Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs launch comes on the heels of KFC’s Saucy Nuggets rollout, for example, while Bojangles recently brought back its Bo Sauce and Church’s Chicken launched its first-ever signature hot sauce. Sonic introduced Groovy Sauce last month, while Jersey Mike’s just added two cheesesteaks with new signature sauces – a smoky Southwest sauce and a salsa Verde sauce.

According to Technomic’s Flavor Consumer Trend Report, 34% of consumers consider what sauces and condiments are available when deciding what restaurants to visit.
