DALLAS Entering the hot-chicken sandwich segment for the first time, 7-Eleven has introduced the Chicken Bite, a chicken tender-like product shaped like a hot dog, at its 7,200 North American stores.
The Chicken Bite, which sells for $1.69, expands 7-Eleven’s line of Big Bite hot dogs and Go-Go Taquitos.
The Dallas-based c-store company said the 3.3-ounce Chicken Bite is made with 100-percent white meat and is breaded with Southern-style seasonings and spices. Such sauces as ranch, honey mustard and barbecue are available at no additional cost along with mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and pickle relish.
Kathryn Humphries, grill category manager for 7-Eleven, said: “7-Eleven has strong brand recognition selling hot dogs and, more recently, taquitos. The Chicken Bite is neither of these, but a completely new item. And consumers want more chicken choices when looking at to-go food options.”
The Chicken Bite is available with or without a bun, Humphries said, adding that 7-Eleven was working on developing more varieties of the item.
