MIAMI Burger King Corp. has shifted its NASCAR sponsorship into high gear with the signing of a multi-year sponsorship agreement with driver Tony Stewart and his Stewart-Haas Racing team.
This deal marks Burger King’s return to a NASCAR sponsorship after a year away. The company had previously sponsored driver David Newman and Michael Waltrip Racing.
As part of the new sponsorship, Burger King has two primary paint schemes on the No. 14 Sprint Cup car, which will be featured at the July 4 Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and the Sept. 27 race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. Both races are affiliated with the NASCAR.
The company also has an agreement with Stewart that includes appearances in commercials, restaurant promotions and at Burger King-sponsored events.
Russ Klein, Burger King’s president of global marketing, strategy and innovation,” said, “We’ve long understood the power of NASCAR, and its millions of fans, and are looking forward to an exciting season.”
Burger King also said it would be the exclusive quick-service restaurant sponsor of Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio, in 2009. The company last season decided not to renew its three-year deal as quick-service restaurant sponsor of the National Football League.
Burger King owns and franchises more than 11,600 restaurants in 73 nations.
