Nearly 84 tons of ground beef for restaurants have been recalled because of contamination fears. The potentially deadly form of E.coli was found in the meat, which was processed by Detroit-based Wolverine Packing Co., after 15 people in a geographic cluster showed symptoms of being poisoned.

Jack in the Box sales are improving. But it still has some headwinds in California. The company said same-store sales declined 2.1% last quarter, but they improved in September and turned positive once the current quarter started in October amid an improving market in the fast-food business.

Starbucks is still considering its China options.
