Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is celebrating the opening of its 2,000th restaurant in Memphis, Tenn., Saturday by giving away 2,000 free pieces of chicken to guests attending the grand opening.
“We are pleased to reach this significant milestone as we approach our 40th year,” said Ralph Bower, Popeyes chief operating officer, in a statement.
Popeyes, the world’s second-largest quick-service chicken chain based on number of units, will inaugurate the 2,000th restaurant at a site owned and operated by Olive Oil Associates, whose company president, Bob Cook, will lead the event.
Cook, who has more than 45 years of franchise and quick-service experience, was Popeyes’ 2010 Operator of the Year award winner.
The free chicken is a one-day-only promotion at the 4201 Hacks Cross Road store location. Each free offer will include three pieces of chicken.
“We’ve created this offer to give something back to our loyal guests,” Cook said in a statement.
Atlanta-based Popeyes was founded in New Orleans in 1972.
