McDonald’s Corp. had a big presence at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. The company was a sponsor of the festival. It gave away free food, had a “McDonald’s Lounge” at the Austin Convention Center and hosted pitch sessions for startups with innovations that could be applied to the restaurant business. The chain is looking to improve the technology it uses in its restaurants, but it is also looking to boost its credibility with younger consumers.
