Menu Tracker: New items from Chipotle, McDonald’s, and Taco Bell

Plus innovation at Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Chili’s, Denny’s, Dutch Bros, Jollibee, Kelly’s Roast Beef, Krispy Kreme, MOD Pizza, Outback Steakhouse, Razzoo’s Cajun Café, Sizzler, Tender Greens, Velvet Taco, Voodoo Doughnut, and Yogurtland

St. Patrick’s Day is this Friday, which means it’s probably going to be an especially busy weekend at bars, although operators might have preferred the drinking holiday be in the middle of the week, since business is likely good on weekends anyway.

At any rate, a number of chains are marking the occasion, mostly with green menu items, such as the Lucky Clover Soft Top at Dutch Bros, the Green Frappe at Kelly’s Roast Beef, the lineup of doughnuts at Krispy Kreme and Voodoo Doughnut, the minty frozen yogurt at Yogurtland, or the Paddy’s Punch at Razzoo’s Cajun Café. Chili’s also has a secret off-menu cocktail, and Velvet Taco’s Weekly Taco Feature is a take on the Reuben sandwich, which isn’t technically related to St. Patrick’s Day, but it is made of corned beef, which is Irish-American

Other restaurants have their own agendas.

Outback Steakhouse is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a “Boomerang Menu” that reprises favorites from the recent past.

Taco Bell is bringing back some old favorites, too, as it does from time to time, and testing a crunchy, cheesy chicken item in Knoxville, Tenn.

Denny’s has updated its menu with some new and some improved menu items, along with augmented reality components that you can read about here.

MOD Pizza has introduced three portable “Pocket Pies,” made by simply cooking pizza, scoring it and folding it so their customers can eat it on the go.

McDonald’s has a new lemonade, complete with pulp, and Chipotle is rolling out systemwide the Chicken al Pastor that it tested last year.

Sizzler and Tender Greens have seasonal menus, Jollibee has a pineapple-coconut pie, and Capriotti’s has a wagyu beef French dip.
