Chipotle Mexican Grill announced Monday that the company would be raising its hourly wages to an average of $15 an hour by the end of June, ranging from $11-$18 per hour for store-level employees. The Newport Beach, Calif.-based fast-casual chain is also adding a path to a restaurateur position (the highest level of general manager salary) for an average salary of $100,000 in as little as three and a half years.
JAB Holding-owned Krispy Kreme has confidentially filed a draft registration for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which would bring the company public again after five years after parent company JAB holding had taken it private.
Krispy Kreme first went public in 2000 but had to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy following financial restatements and investigations into its accounting practices.
In other news, Subway says its restaurant owners, store equipment and unit workers remain a chief concern after the brand’s franchise association alerted members about potential operational problems with the new line of “Fresh Melts” introduced last week.
The Fairfiled, Conn.-based North American Association of Subway Franchisees reportedly expressed concern about the new line’s safety, saying it imperiled employees handling the product and the toaster equipment used to prepare it.
