Wendy’s revs up ‘The Baconator’ for Chicago NASCAR race

Burger restaurant continues partnership with driver Noah Gragson to promote bacon sandwich

The Wendy’s Co. is once again teaming up with Legacy Motor Club and its NASCAR driver Noah Gragson, with his No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro being wrapped as “The Baconator” for Chicago’s first Street Race Weekend July 1-2.

Wendy-s-NASCAR-Hood-300.jpgThe Dublin, Ohio-based company will sponsor two official meet-and-greets with Gragson at Chicago-area Wendy’s on June 30: from 10:30 am CDT to 11:15 a.m. CDT at 7200 W. 25th Street in North Riverside, Ill., and from 12:30 p.m. CDT to 1:15 p.m. CDT at 2312 N. Ashland in Chicago.

The Baconator pays homage to Wendy's signature half-pound of beef, American cheese, and crispy Applewood smoked bacon.

"At the Daytona 500 I drove 'The BEEF,' at Talladega I was behind the wheel of 'The BIGGIE,' and I can't wait to rep 'The Baconator' this weekend as my team and I try to bring home the bacon...literally," said Gragson in a statement. "I've had so much fun with Wendy's this year, from starting a little beef at Daytona, to going biggie at Talladega, and I can't wait to continue to show up for fans in Chicago this weekend."

Carl Loredo, Wendy’s global chief marketing officer, added: "A race as iconic as the first-ever Chicago Street Race deserves an iconic showing, and as a brand that knows a thing or two about bacon cheeseburgers, we know bacon makes everything better.”

As part of the promotion with third-party delivery service DoorDash, customers can get a free Breakfast Baconator or Bacaonator sandwich July 1-3 with purchases of $20 or more on the app.

Wendy’s, founded in 1969, has about 7,000 restaurants systemwide.
