LOUISVILLE Ky.
KFC plans to offer free samples of its signature Colonel’s Crispy Strips on Jan. 29 to attract customers who had been buying Wendy’s Homestyle Chicken Strips, which the chicken chain says are being yanked from the burger chain’s menu.
Customers who make any purchase at a participating KFC unit will receive a free Crispy Strip with their order. A full-page ad in the Jan. 25 edition of USA Today is supporting the giveaway.
KFC said it learned about Wendy’s decision to pull its homestyle strip off the menu from in-store fliers distributed to Wendy’s customers. KFC, based here, is a division of Yum! Brands Inc. and has more than 14,000 units worldwide. Wendy’s, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, operates or franchises 6,600 quick-service restaurants.
