Was 2024 the year of the restaurant tech stack makeover?

Every calendar year, almost every major restaurant operator announces a technology investment of some kind, whether it’s a loyalty program refresh (a popular choice), new third-party delivery partnerships, or even investment in physical technology, like Portillo’s adding kiosks systemwide.

But seven major restaurant companies chose this year to significantly invest in improving or completely overhauling their technology infrastructure, with changes that went beyond just the announcement of a rewards program makeover.  

From companies rolling out their own proprietary systems like Domino’s and Wingstop, to IHOP investing in a new POS system for the first time in 15 years, here are seven restaurant companies that had serious technology glow-ups this year.
