Subway is getting a new CEO. John Chidsey, who took the helm at the fast-food sandwich giant in 2019, is retiring. Carrie Walsh, who heads Subway’s Europe, Middle East and Africa markets, was named interim CEO.

Starbucks employees have had a tough time tracking their hours this week. The software that enables workers to check their schedules — and the company to track their hours for payroll purposes — was affected by a ransomware attack involving the supply chain software company Blue Yonder.

Some restaurants can expect a bit of a tailwind this Thanksgiving week. New data from Toast shows that there were 11% more transactions on Thanksgiving Eve last year versus the average Wednesday, while ticket sizes were about 10% higher and alcohol sales were 70% higher.

Are we sure ghost kitchens are dead? Some large brands have been quietly opening delivery-only locations recently, suggesting there may be some life left in the concept.
