Unit growth among the International Top 25 chains was muted in 2014, growing by an average of 2.8 percent in 2014 compared to 3.4 percent a year earlier. The growth would have been slower if not for the continued expansion of Japanese convenience store chains. 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson combined to open approximately 5,000 new outlets last year, primarily in their home market of Japan.
This story is a part of NRN’s International Top 25, an annual look at the 25 largest restaurant chains and companies based outside of the United States and Canada based on their worldwide foodservice sales. Sales and figures were calculated by London-based Euromonitor International.
