Checkers Rally s Frances Allen Steps down as CEO

Last month, the restaurant industry heard about the impending departure of a heavyweight who decided to retire.

Frances Allen most recently served as CEO and president of Checkers & Rally’s and will retire from her post in September.

Allen has had a long career in the restaurant industry including as president of Boston Market and Jack in the Box, CMO and CBO of Denny’s, and CMO of Dunkin’.

In other news, the growing slider concept Smalls Sliders made two new C-suite additions in April. First, the chain named Julie Hauser-Blanner as COO. Hauser-Blanner joined the concept with a wealth of experience from casual-dining brands including Bonefish Grill and Outback Steakhouse.

A few weeks later, Smalls named former Inspire Brands and Chick-fil-A veteran Don Crocker as its chief development officer.

Some other big news:

  • Yum Brands’ chief strategy officer Gavin Felder left the company.

  • Stacey Pool resigned as Noodles & Company’s chief marketing officer.

  • KFC Global named Alex Barsk as its new CFO.
