Subway has officially opened its second global dual-headquarters offices in Shelton, Conn., moving from Milford, Conn.

Located in the heart of the Shelton business district at 1 Corporate Drive, the new space is designed to enhance the employee experience and advance the brand’s multi-year transformation, the company said.

The company moved consumer-facing and Latin American-development staff functions to Miami with the official opening of dual headquarters office there in March.

“Connecticut has been at the heart of Subway’s story for nearly 60 years,” said John Chidsey, Subway CEO, in a statement. “The strategic relocation of our global dual-headquarters to Shelton will provide employees with a world-class workplace and unlock access to services to help enhance their well-being. In addition, it will serve as a showcase of our brand and a welcoming place for guests to visit.”

The new building is within 10 miles of Subway’s former Milford office and offers easy access to major and alternative roadways.  Subway’s Connecticut-based employees, consisting of essential business functions, such as human resources, finance, and legal, among others, have fully transitioned to the new Shelton building.

Along with an upgraded, modernized workspace, Subway employees have access to on-site amenities located within R.D. Scintos’ Enterprise Corporate Park, including dining options, fitness centers, recreational activities, healthcare providers, a beauty salon and spas, and childcare centers.

Bill Ekstrom, Subway’s director of business services, said: “Our new Shelton headquarters is an important step in modernizing the Subway brand and underscores our dedication to establishing an optimal workplace for innovation, collaboration and work-life balance.”

The company said the Miami dual headquarters enabled a stronger integration with the Independent Purchasing Cooperative, Subway’s franchisee-owned purchasing and supply chain cooperative that is based in Miami.

Subway in late August announced it had entered an agreement to sell to affiliates of private-equity firm Roark Capital Group of Atlanta.

Subway has nearly 37,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries.
