If an increase in the federal minimum wage is approved, operators across the country face the prospect of hourly rates rising well above $7.25 per hour, which has been the reality for years in Washington and Oregon, where all of Burgerville’s 39 restaurants are located.
Jack Graves, chief cultural officer for Vancouver, Wash.-based Burgerville, said attracting and retaining talented workers is the byproduct of paying average hourly wages in the $11 range.
