JACKSON Miss. One of the state's biggest insurance carriers has agreed to reconsider more than 35,000 commercial and homeowner claims filed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and award or adjust payments accordingly, the Mississippi Insurance Department said Monday.

The carrier, State Farm, has agreed to pay out millions of dollars as part of the reassessment, commissioner of insurance George Dale said in a statement.

Dale's office said the review would focus on claims filed by businesses and individuals in Mississippi's three counties on the Gulf coast.

It did not say how many of those commercial claimants are restaurants.
