Drive-in chain is latest in long series of restaurant company hacks
Sonic Corp. on Wednesday acknowledged that it was the victim of a data breach that reportedly resulted in the potential theft of “millions” of customer credit and debit card numbers.
The Oklahoma City-based drive-in chain said in a statement that its credit card processor informed the company last week of “unusual activity” on credit cards used at Sonic.
“We are working to understand the nature and scope of this issue, as we know how important this is to our guests,” the company said. “We immediately engaged third-party forensic experts and law enforcement when we heard from our processor.”
