Every year, Nation’s Restaurant News presents the Top 500 biggest restaurants in America, ranked by systemwide sales in the previous fiscal year. This year, we’re using data from our partners at Technomic to give you the best report yet.
In this report, meet those chains on the edge of the Top 50: Those ranked No. 100 through No. 51. For each, you’ll also learn their systemwide sales and unit counts for 2023.
Among these 50 chains, 47 saw systemwide sales growth last year. One chain — CAVA — grew sales by more than 50%, following its wildly successful early-2023 IPO. It catapulted itself up the list from No. 143 last year to No. 77.
These 50 chains also succeeded in unit growth last year, with 36 adding net new units. The top grower in this category, perhaps unsurprisingly, was Crumbl, which grew units by 40.8% as it neared the 1,000 mark.
