Burger King Corp., which in February announced its first Million Dollar Whopper Contest, has selected three finalists and will offer the trio at select U.S. restaurants in November.
The Miami-based division of Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International Inc., which said it received more than a million submissions, said consumers will be able to order and vote on the trio of sandwiches in November.
The three sandwiches are:
Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper (created by Fabian of California), which features quarter-pound flame -grilled beef patty, topped with pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.
Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper (created by Calvin of California), which features a beef patty, topped with maple bourbon barbecue sauce, crispy onions and jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon, and American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.
Mexican Street Corn Whopper (created by Kelsie of Nebraska), which features a grilled beef patty, topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The original Whopper was introduced in 1957.
“The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking ‘Have It Your Way’ to the next level, and we were blown away by the thought and creativity that went into the Whopper creations that were submitted,” Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America, said in a statement.
“Selecting just three finalists was no easy task, but we’re confident guests will love these creative delicious takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich, and can’t wait for them to be available in restaurants this fall,” O’Toole said.
Burger King, founded in 1954, has more than 19,000 locations in more than 120 countries and U.S. territories.
