CiCi’s Pizza works to conserve water in Atlanta

ATLANTA CiCi’s Pizza units here are asking guests not to use trays in order to conserve water amid one of the most severe droughts in Georgia’s history.

The company said that not using the trays would keep them out of the dishwasher at the 21 CiCi’s pizza buffet restaurants in the Atlanta area.

"We at CiCi's Pizza recognize that the Atlanta community is experiencing drought conditions of crisis proportions," said Kyle Smith, vice president of operations at CiCi's Pizza. "We want to be proactive in addressing the problem operationally, while impressing upon our guests our commitment to saving Atlanta's water and asking them to become more conservation conscious."

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue literally prayed for rain today, along with lawmakers, ministers and around 250 others at a rally outside the state Capitol, according a report in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

With rivers and reservoirs are at record lows in Georgia, Perdue has ordered water restrictions and late last month declared a state of emergency.

Coppell, Texas-based CiCi’s Pizza operates or franchises more than 600 restaurants in 29 states.
