KFC breakfast to jump across the pond?

LONDON A KFC unit here has started serving breakfast in what local media have reported as the beginning of a global rollout for the Louisville, Ky.-based chicken chain.

The menu includes sandwiches made with eggs from chickens that live outside of cages. Beverage options include Lavazza coffee and Tropicana smoothies. Menu descriptions were not immediately available for such value-priced choices as A.M. Wrapstar, A.M. Riser and A.M. Loader.

McDonald’s and Burger King have long been known for their breakfast sandwiches in the U.K.

Officials of KFC and its parent, Yum! Brands Inc., could not be reached for comment. Yum is also the parent of the Taco Bell quick-service brand, which is adding breakfast in some markets.

News reports say breakfast will be rolled out to all KFC units in the United Kingdom next year.
