NRN Featured Beverage: The Suckao

News

The Suckao, priced at $4.50, gets its name from combining the word "Kakao," the Spanish word for cocoa beans, with the word "suck," which is how one enjoys the drink at Max Brenner Chocolate by the Bald Man, which are found in New York, Australia, Singapore, the Philippines and Israel.

Just as with the handle-less Hug Mug for his Hot Chocolate and the Alice Cup with its metal straw for his Choctails, the restaurants serve the Suckao in a device of Brenner's own invention. The egg-like utensil used to serve the Suckao is hollow in the bottom to hold a candle to heat up a small metal shot glass, which melts dark, milk or white chocolate into a concentrated shot. The metal spoon that comes with it not only stirs the chocolate but also has a hollow handle that allows the customer to use the spoon as a straw for the melted chocolate.
