Pizza Fusion co-founder named to green task force

BOCA RATON Fla. Vaughan Lazar, co-founder and president of the 21-unit Pizza Fusion chain, has been appointed to the newly created Green Living Task Force here.

Lazar, who was selected by the City Council, is one of nine members chosen to head up the city's new environmental awareness initiative. The Green Living Task Force will develop a plan for educating local residents about environmental issues and encouraging them to get involved.

“Having lived in Boca Raton for over 15 years now, it brings me a lot of pride to assist my hometown with furthering its environmental stance,” Lazar said. “I commend the city on its efforts and look forward to applying my understanding of green living, business and marketing to their environmentally conscious initiatives.”

Pizza Fusion, which is based in nearby Fort Lauderdale and operates in 11 states, emphasizes eco-friendly principles in its business model. Several of the chain’s locations have achieved recognition for meeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards, its menu features primarily organic ingredients, and deliveries are made in hybrid vehicles.
