Pizza Hut says pastas pack on sales

DALLAS Pizza Hut generated more than $24 million in sales during April from its new pasta dinners, making the added delivery option one of the most successful product introductions in the chain’s history, the Yum! Brands Inc. holding said Wednesday.

The two Tuscani Pasta dinners, introduced April 1, are Creamy Chicken Alfredo and Meaty Marinara. Each entree weighs 3 pounds precooked and is sold with five bread sticks for $11.99. Pizza Hut has said the meals, served in reheatable trays, can feed a family of four.

When the pastas were introduced, Pizza Hut chief executive Scott Bergren said, “We know we can do $1 billion in sales in this product alone.”

Pizza Hut, a sister concept to KFC and Taco Bell, operates or franchises 6,200 restaurants in the United States.
