DALLAS Tony Roma's parent Romacorp Inc. said it has promoted Marc Buehler to president and chief executive, filling the vacancy left by the departure of David Head last year to take the top job at the Captain D's Seafood chain.
Buehler previously served as chief operating officer of Romacorp. His successor in that post was not announced by the company.
The new assignment marks another step in the rapid advancement of Buehler at Romacorp, from vice president of marketing to COO and now CEO.
Tony Roma's, known primarily as a ribs chain, has been striving in recent years to reposition itself as a broad-market casual-dining concept. It has also launched several variations on its core concept, including downscale Tony Roma's Fast & Casual and Tony Roma's Express concepts.
Romacorp operates 20 Tony Roma's outlets and franchises another 200 in 21 states and 35 countries. It is based here.
