Reaching milestones in social media in 2013 has become worthy of major observances, especially as restaurant brands wrestle for share of the public’s attention.
When Pizza Hut passed 10 million “likes” on Facebook earlier this year, the brand celebrated with a big, 14-foot-tall thumbs up – built of pizza boxes at its corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.
That’s no mean feat, either reaching the goal or building the totem.
It took more than 500 boxes and heroic efforts to build the digital monument for the 10,000-unit division of Yum! Brands. Inc.
Doug Terfehr, Pizza Hut’s director of public relations, said, “This is another crowning achievement for our brand online, and it's made extra special because this is only made possible through the passion and support of our fans."
