Dunkin' 3Q profit rises 36%

Company continues unit growth into western U.S.

Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. reported on Thursday a 36-percent increase in net income for its Sept. 28-ended third quarter, saying unit growth has continued into the western U.S. with strong results, despite a choppy environment and increasing competition. At the end of the quarter, the Canton, Mass.-based franchisor had nearly 10,800 Dunkin’ Donuts units and more than 7,100 Baskin-Robbins units worldwide, almost all of which are franchise operated.
 

NET INCOME

Result: $40.2 million, or 37 cents per share
% Increase: 36.3% (from $29.5 million, or 26 cents per share)

REVENUE

Result: $186.3 million
% Increase: 8.5% (from $171.7 million)

SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase at Dunkin' Donuts U.S.: 4.2%


% Increase at Baskin-Robbins U.S.: 3.2%


% Decrease at Dunkin' Donuts International: 1.4%


% Increase at Baskin-Robbins International: 0.7%
