Raving taps Moe’s vet to grow two younger chains

ATLANTA Multi-concept franchisor Raving Brands has promoted Seth Salzman to senior vice president, with responsibility for strategy development, marketing and operations for two of the company’s youngest brands, The Flying Biscuit Café and Boneheads Grilled Fish & Piri Piri Chicken.

Salzman, a co-founder and longtime executive of Moe’s Southwest Grill, will also oversee the company’s string of entertainment centers, Monkey Joe's.  Raving is in the process of selling Moe’s, it’s flagship, to Schlotzsky’s parent Focus Brands.

Also, Brent McGhee, a 10-year veteran of Hooters of America, has signed on to be director of franchise operations for Flying Biscuit, Raving’s lone casual-dining concept. The original café was founded in 1993 by chef Delia Champion in Candler Park, Ga. Raving Brands purchased the concept last year and is working with Champion to replicate it. The first franchised location opened in May, and franchisee John Slocum is working with investors to bring five locations to Atlanta.

Stephen M. LaMastra, president and COO of Raving Brands, said Salzman was tapped because of his leadership at Moe's and his efforts to develop the tropical-themed Boneheads fast-casual concept during the past 18 months.

Raving Brands franchises a portfolio company consisting mainly of fast-casual brands. Its other concepts include Shane's Rib Shack and Planet Smoothie.
