Former Dickey’s financial chief joins pizza restaurant group in new role

Rave Restaurant Group, parent to the Pizza Inn and Pie Five concepts, has named Jay Rooney as chief financial officer and made other executive appointments, the company announced Tuesday.

Dallas-based Rave said Rooney most recently served as chief financial officer at Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

Rave-CFO-Jay-Rooney.jpgRooney joined Dickeys in 2018 after serving in financial leadership positions at Dallas-based Brinker International Inc., parent to the Chili’s Grill & Bar and Maggiano’s Italian casual-dining brands.

“I’m truly honored and excited to take on this new role with such an established company,” said Rooney in a statement. “Along with my new colleagues, I’m looking forward to helping create further growth and expansion for years to come.”

In addition to Rooney’s appoint, the company said new executives included: Zack Viljoen as Rave’s vice president of operations and general manager of Pie Five; Denise Wilson as associate vice president of supply chain; Carlos Cojulun as marketing director of Pizza Inn; Roger Mangum as director of operations and training; and Liam Finn as director of franchise development.

“These new members of our team are all highly skilled and experienced pros who will be essential to building a strong future,” said Brandon Solano, Rave CEO, in a statement. “We’re focused on doing everything we can to honor our company’s long history, while satisfying our customers, franchisees and investors for years to come.”

As of Dec. 24, Pizza Inn’s domestic unit count was 112. Pizza Inn’s international unit count was 18. Pie Five had 24 domestic restaurants.
