Papa Murphy’s names Brandon Solano CMO

Marketing veteran previously at Wendy’s, Domino’s Pizza

Papa Murphy’s Holdings Inc. has named former Wendy’s International executive Brandon Solano chief marketing officer of its Papa Murphy’s Take ’N’ Bake Pizza chain, effective Nov. 30, the company said Thursday.

Solano replaces Chas Hermann, who was serving as Papa Murphy’s interim CMO after Jayson Tipp, previously senior vice president of marketing, was promoted to chief development officer and senior vice president, technology earlier this year. No one has held the CMO role at Papa Murphy’s since 2012.

Solano was CMO at Wendy’s for less than a year, after starting at the burger chain in July 2014 as vice president, marketing. Prior to Wendy’s, Solano was vice president of development and vice president of brand and retail innovation at Domino’s Pizza Inc.

Earlier in his career, he held marketing roles at Hershey’s, Kellogg’s and Procter & Gamble.

“Brandon’s significant experience in leading successful brand growth initiatives in the foodservice and CPG pizza categories make him an invaluable asset to Papa Murphy’s as we continue to build our growing brand across the country,” said Ken Calwell, Papa Murphy’s president and CEO. “Brandon’s deep industry knowledge, coupled with his background in marketing, R&D, e-commerce, consumer packaged goods and franchising will help us as we continue to drive awareness and sales at Papa Murphy’s and our unique take-and-bake model. We are pleased to welcome Brandon to the management team.”

Based in Vancouver, Wash., Papa Murphy’s operates and franchises more than 1,500 units in 38 states, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
