New York Times names new restaurant critic

NEW YORK The New York Times said Wednesday that culture editor Sam Sifton will take over as the newspaper's restaurant reviewer in October. He will replace Frank Bruni, who announced in May that he would step down from the high-profile and pressure-filled post.Sifton joined The Times in 2002 and has contributed articles on food to the newspaper's Sunday magazine.
