Report: Burger King tests a Whopper-burrito mash-up

'Whopp-rrito' spotted in a Pennsylvania Burger King

For a chain that makes fries and “onion rings” out of chicken, this may not come as a surprise. But Burger King is reportedly testing a Whopper-burrito mashup, according to GrubGrade.

Dubbed either the Whopperito or Whopp-rrito – it’s not entirely clear from the photo – the sign spotted at a Burger King in Hermitage, Pa., appears to show ingredients for a flame-grilled beef Whopper rolled into a flour tortilla.

A Burger King spokeswoman said the Whopperito is a regional product being sold by a franchisee at the local level and there are no current plans to introduce the product nationally.[CHARTBEAT:3]

The Miami-based chain is also experimenting in select markets with a Whopper in hot dog form, called a Whopper Dog, which comes as a limited-time addition to the grilled hot dog platform Burger King launched in February.
