Working Lunch: Study shows young workers prioritize purpose over paycheck

Meanwhile, some conservatives are pushing back against “do-gooder” companies

A new study suggests that people entering the workforce are more concerned with the company they work for doing good things than they are concerned with making good money. The Align Public Strategies team takes a look at the results of this 12-city case study, and also examines how some prominent conservatives are mounting a backlash against such “do-gooder” companies.

Meanwhile, California may be on the path toward a “Restaurant Survivor Empowerment Act,” similar to an existing bill for janitorial workers, as strikers from a McDonald’s in Los Angeles call for new legislation. The act they’re calling for would require sexual harassment training, peer-to-peer education and other protections for workers.

The team addresses all of these issues, then wraps up with the legislative scorecard.
