Sonic collaborates with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in ‘Simple Life’ throwback

The ‘Sonic Iconic Drinks by Paris and Nicole’ menu will feature two different dirty soda-esque beverages themed to the two ‘Simple Life’ girls

Sonic Drive-In is capitalizing on the popularization of early ‘00s nostalgia with the launch of the quick-service brand’s “Sonic Iconic Drinks by Paris and Nicole” menu collaboration with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

The specialty drinks menu is being released in conjunction with the premiere of “Paris and Nicole: the Encore” on the Peacock streaming service. Hilton and Richie are reuniting for the 20th anniversary of “The Simple Life” reality TV show, which depicted the two wealthy socialites trying out blue-collar jobs and physical labor. In “The Encore,” the two blonde friends are depicted working at a Sonic, while they try to turn their iconic theme song, “Sanasa,” into an opera.

The new limited-time drinks menu features two dirty soda-esque creations made in collaboration with Hilton and Richie:

  • “The Nicole” drink is made with Dr Pepper, sweet cream, vanilla, strawberries and whipped topping
  • “The Paris” drink is predictably pink and made with Sprite, dragon fruit flavoring, lemon and lime fruit, whipped topping, and Nerds candy

In a promotional video for Sonic, the two are depicted visiting a Sonic and ordering the drinks, while trying to come up with a name for their respective beverages. Eventually, they decide to just “go simple” and name the drinks after themselves, while singing about “Sonicsa,” as a variation on their theme song.

This is not the first high-profile partnership Sonic Drive-In announced this year. In February, Sonic partnered with Reba McEntire to promote a date night meal, and the quick-service brand was also a sponsor of the X Games in May.

Sonic has also been leaning into the popularity of the dirty soda trend this year, as the company rolled out a new beverage menu in June, featuring sodas with mix-ins like fruit, sweet cream, and syrup.
