Every year, Nation’s Restaurant News ranks the largest restaurant chains by domestic systemwide sales, giving a detailed look at the biggest players in the industry. This year, we once again partnered with Datassential and its Firefly platform to provide information for 500 chains.
2022’s numbers demonstrate an industry inching even closer to business as usual, stabilizing even as challenges such as inflation, a shallow labor pool and the supply chain persist. In fact, 91% of restaurant chains demonstrated growth in domestic systemwide sales last year. That includes 46 of the 50 chains presented here.
In this gallery, get sales and growth data for those chains ranked No. 100 to No. 50 in the United States in 2022 ranked by domestic systemwide sales. See restaurants from Perkins to Dutch Bros Coffee, which had $1.2 billion in sales — a 28.9% increase year-over-year, after having gone public in September 2021.
Restaurants in this group saw growth as high as 152.8% year-over-year — that number belonging to Crumbl Cookies, entering the Top 100 at No. 59 after ranking No. 297 last year. Crumbl also opened a net 363 units in 2022, more than doubling its footprint, and increased its estimated sales per unit by 9.0%.
