Denny’s is getting ready to close a significant chunk of its restaurants. The family-dining chain needs to close about a tenth of its locations to fully engage the turnaround strategy that’s starting to yield encouraging results for the 1,590-unit brand. That’s according to a conference Denny’s held with investors Tuesday.

The family-dining closures continue at Shari’s Restaurants, which has closed all 42 of its locations in Oregon. The family-dining chain has been struggling under the weight of mounting financial difficulties, including allegations of unpaid rent and taxes, as well as eviction notices and lawsuits.

An activist investor in The Cheesecake Factory has suggested spinning off North Italia, Flower Child, and Culinary Dropout into a separately traded public company, a Wall Street Journal report said.

Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food has new owners. A majority stake in the 56-unit fast-casual Hawaiian barbecue chain has been acquired by private-equity firms Blue Marlin Partners and Trive Capital.
